Moments like these...

As some of you know Wade is leaving out of town this weekend. So before he left we went in to gaze over our beautiful sleeping baby. (I guess 14 months isn't considered a baby anymore but I'm in denial right now that he's a toddler) While in there we accidentally woke him up and we frantically ran out hoping he wouldn't see us and just go back to sleep. Well he saw us and I think it scared him that all of the sudden he was woken up from a dead sleep and both his parents were running for the door. (I don't blame him I would freak out too.) Anyway I took this wonderful opportunity to go back in there and comfort him and snuggle with him for a bit. When I picked him up with his little BB (pacifier) and blankie and we sat down on the rocking chair he just melted into my arms. He just laid there half asleep enjoying my warm, comforting arms. After about 20 minutes of cuddling he slowly started to drift off to sleep and on his way out he lifted up his little hand and softly touched my neck.

It's moments like these where everything I do for him is worth it. The tantrums, the messes, the 10 billion poopie diapers, the chasing around church... it's all worth it. I could have melted into freshly microwaved butter. I love that little man and just thinking about my love for him makes me so overwhelmed I just want to cry.

I feel so blessed to have such a happy child given to me. I know my Heavenly Father loves me so much and I'm so grateful he has brought Wells into my life. I don't know what I would do without him.

Wells Wells Wells

I feel like I haven't posted anything in a long time.  Our lives are so crazy right now (which is a good thing) and I never remember to bring a camera wherever we go. So here are a few pictures of Wells just in case you've missed him.

This stuffed snake is one that Grandma and Grandpa Farr got for him in Georgia.

Just helping me sweep up the kitchen.

Our sweet neighbor GAVE us this cool truck.  Wells plays in it several times a day and he LOVES it when Grandpa Farr pushes him around in it.

He loves to read his books.  I really hope he stays that way :)

I'm one proud wife...

I know some of you saw that I posted this on Facebook but this is for my family who doesn't have a Facebook page.  Operation Smile made an award in Wades honor. It's called the K. Wade Hooton Visionary Award. These video clips describes Wade's accomplishments and why they named this award after him.  I'm so proud of his hard work and dedication, and I'm grateful Operation Smile recognizes the work he does.

Best Chocolate Cake You'll Ever Make

I made this cake for my father-in-laws birthday yesterday and I have to say, it was pretty good.  So I thought I would share.  Here is the recipe if you'd like to try it for yourself.  It's pretty dang easy to make.

Heat oven to 350*.  Grease and flour cake pans.  Begin with dry ingredients.
1 3/4 C flour
1 C sugar
1 C brown sugar
3/4 C cocoa
1 1/2 t baking soda
1 1/2 t baking powder
1 t salt
Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Mix:
2 eggs
1 C buttermilk
1/2 C veggie oil
2 t vanilla
1 C HOT water
Combine eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla in mixer for about 2 minutes.  Slowly add dry ingredients into the mixer.  Place water in microwave to get really hot.  Stir it into your batter.  It will be very runny. Don't panic.  Pour into two 9 inch pans.  Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.  Cool upside down on racks.
The FROSTING:
1/2 C cocoa
2 2/3 C powdered sugar
6 T softened butter
4-5 T milk
1 t vanilla
Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix for several minutes.
Once the cake is cool, frost.
Put chocolate chips on the side and strawberries on the top (optional)

Girls Rule Pamper Day!!!

Today some of my cute neighbor girls came over and asked if they could play with Honey (for those of you who don't know Honey is my parents dog.  My parents are one a mission so I'm helping take care of her).  Honey has been so so lonely lately so I thought this would be great for her to have a little TLC.  I wish I had more pictures but I didn't think to take any until they were almost done playing with her.

First they gave her a bath (which Honey loved because it's so hot). Then they took her on a walk to the park.  When they came back they brushed her until she was dry, she just laid there and loved every minute of it. Then they painted her nails and put a headband in her hair while talking to her and giving her all the love and attention she could ever want.

I'm so grateful to have such good girls in our neighborhood.  The whole time they where here they never once talked badly about other people, never said anything rude, crude, or off color.  I just hope when my kids get older they'll have friends like these girls to play with.

Here are a couple of pics.

Notice the head band and the pink toe nails.

Sun Valley Idaho

Wade and I decided we needed to get out of Dodge this weekend (I just learned that phrase).  We wanted to go somewhere north to get out of the heat and we wanted to go with someone real neat (I just threw a rhyme in there just incase you didn't notice) So I thought of Sun Valley Idaho with Mom and Dad Hooton! I've always wanted to go there because I've heard that's where all the celebs go to vay-kay (vacation).  I pretty much already live the Hollywood life so I just thought topping it of by vacationing in the place celebs romp would add to my appeal.  (I'm not really sure what that meant)

Here are some pics.  Enjoy...

This is the world famous ski slopes and the condos we stayed in.

This is the beautiful river right by our condo. We opened our windows at night, and were put to sleep by the lullaby of the babbling brook.

We took this Gondola up to the top of the mountain to eat lunch at the Roundhouse Restaurant.  Then Wade and I rode another ski lift up even higher (to the black diamond ski trails.. Dun dun dun...)

When we got on the lift we were commenting on how scary it was not having a bar in front of us to hold on to, then when we were almost to the top we noticed some people going down had a bar across their laps.  I looked up and realized that we just hadn't pulled the bar down.  Ha Ha Dur!

Mom and Dad Hooton

This is a really cool cowboy and his horse Lucky Joe.  They did some pretty sweet tricks.

Wells all partied out.  He had so much fun with all the time we spent out doors.

Oh one last thing... Ya know how this is the place were celebs go?  Well I saw JAMIE LEE CURTIS! and she stayed in a house next to our condo!!!
