Another Adventure of Wells

I think I need to get Wells a sand box.  He spent about 10 minutes (which is a long time for his attention span) playing in this box of detergent this morning.

The good thing is he smelled nice after he was all done :)

Garden Smarden

Garden Smarden... I've always said that when it comes to that time of year that everyone get so excited about.  "It's so fun to pick out the seeds!"  "Oh I love to till the nice moist soil..."  Are people really serious?  How can someone get a kick out of working in the DIRT!

Well... I've caught the bug...

I think I've just always taken my dad's bounteous garden for granted my whole life.  All the fresh veggies and fruit have just, well, always been there every summer (and even all winter when my mom has canned).  But this summer I decided I was sick of the store bought tasteless tomatoes, the pithy potatoes, and the flimsy carrots.  So I decided to take my dad's well of knowledge that's stored up his shiny bald head, and learn something from him.

Wow did I learn a lot.  Little tricks of the trade, how to hoe so you don't hurt your back, how to utilize every bit of dirt, how to talk to the plants so they will grow faster and stronger... (okay so maybe I just did that, not my dad).

Anyway, he let me use his garden if I would share the produce.  So here are a couple of pictures from the beginning to what it was about a month ago.

Little ghosts in the garden

This is my dad's ghetto tomato cage

This is just a tiny bit of what we grew.  Isn't it beautiful????
All in all we grew
Radishes
Carrots
Green onions
Yellow onions
Red potatoes
Yukon Gold potatoes
Green Peppers
Cucumbers
Crook neck squash
Zucchini
Snow peas
Sugar peas
Cherry tomatoes
Regular tomatoes
Lettuce

And I've enjoyed every single bit of it.

Thanks dad for sharing your knowledge.
Love you.

Random video I like

This is one of the students Wade has worked with while in Student Programs at Operation Smile.  I don't know why, but I love this video :)
