Look what I can do..

I can't believe I did it.  I completed a sewing project without my mom.  (Mom don't think I don't need you anymore, I'm just starting to grow up)  Although I didn't have my mom there I had about 30 other moms willing to help me whenever I asked. We made these "flirty aprons" at a Relief Society activity.  It was really easy and way fun.  I didn't finish it there so I came home and borrowed my friends sewing machine and finished it on my own.    

I tried to take a picture of the long bow in the back but it didn't really show up very well.

Fathers Day

So yesterday (Father's Day) I was talking to my dad on Skype (because they're on a mission in Georgia) and I was showing him my little creation I made for Wade for Fathers Day.  My dad said, "You have to put that on your blog..."  So, here it is.  See if you can guess what it is before you read the caption below the picture.

They're little mini grills.  There are hot dogs, shish ka bob's, and a steak.  

They were pretty fun to make, but a lot of work.  I'm not sure why I get such a kick out of making food look like other things (see my last post: owl cake). 

Anyway there ya go dad. 

Yesterday was also Wells "official" birthday.  Here are just a couple of pictures from Grandma Hooton's of Wells eating a cupcake that she gave him.

I know, I know.  He's in a pink bib eating a pink cupcake.  He's pretty secure with his masculinity.  

Birthday Boy

Wells' 1st birthday is this Sunday but considering it's Father's Day and Wade is out of town the two days before we decided to have his birthday party last Saturday.  I don't know why but I've thought about how my first child's birthday would be since I was a preteen (weird I know).  I was really excited about it, when I went to PartyLand to get him some balloons an hour later I was walking around with a whole cart full of birthday crap (streamers, horns, hats, candies, parting gifts, table clothes for like 20 tables, matching plates, cups, napkins, you get the idea).  Then I realized we aren't made of money... so I walked out satisfied with a couple of finds.

As for his cake I put a lot of thought into it.  I found this cake online and fell in love at first sight.  I thought it went well with our last name.  It was actually really easy AND fun to make.

At first he was a little hesitant...

but quickly started shoving every last bit into his mouth.

He loved the cake.  That's the first time he's had that much of any kind of sugar or sweets.  I couldn't believe how fast he ate it.  He takes after his mamma I guess.

Danny and Jamie gave him this cute little backpack, he loved it and strutted around with it on his back the rest of the night.  I like this picture because you can see Elmo's creepy eyes poking out of the backpack.

We had to take off his shirt because it was covered in chocolate frosting.
He had sooo much fun, he loves to socialize and be the center of attention.

This little scooter was at my friend Gina's house and once I put him on it, he planted his little feet and wouldn't move.  I think this picture makes him look so big.

I decided it would be fun for Cinco to get in the pool with Wells so when I threw him in there he freaked out (I don't know why) and popped the top ring with his claws.  We tried to patch it up but it's just not the same.  Good thing Wells doesn't know the difference.

Here are some of the things I love about Wells,
-He's quick to laugh
-He likes to make his mommy and daddy laugh
-He's full of energy
-He's a good eater
-He's cuddly (when he's tired and has his pacifier and blanket)
-He waves and blows kisses
-When he gives Cinco a hug he lays his head on him and says "Awwwww"
-He's very musical, loves to sing, dance and make noise to dance to
-He's a socialite
-He's a fast learner
-He gives great hugs and gives you pats on the back
-He love to tackel you when you're laying down on the ground
-When he wakes up he just talks, laughs and screams like a little girl
I could go on and on and on.

What I'm about to unfold to all two people who read this blog will literally KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF!!!   Wade, Wells and I had the coolest weekend EVER...  Now if you are afraid you're going to be too jealous you may want to avert your eyes now...do not read on...

Okay fine prepare to be awed,

It started off nice and slow, we went for a nice stroll through the grand Thanksgiving Point Gardens on Thursday evening, we took Grandma Hooton with us for some nice company.  I've just started a photography class so this was the perfect place to practice on my new skill. 

I have to give credit where credit is deserved.  This next picture (the one with the waterfall) is one Wade took.

Here are a couple of pics of Wells.  He's is this phase where he has to touch EVERYTHING.

Then Friday came around and that's when the real fun started.  We when to a dog show, I think I took about a hundred pictures just on the jumping water dogs and I think I had a smile on my face the whole time.  I seriously need to get a dog and make the water jumping thing my new hobby.

I love the look of the owners face when he realized his dog just possibly won the contest (which he did).

Wells had such a good time too, he was rocking his little dog shirt and copping a feel with a random little girl, (I think he knew he looked good in his dog shirt so he thought he could get away with it,  and sadly he did) :)

My friend had her dog there and he pulled Wells around on a little wake board, Wells loved it until he fell off.

Poor thing...

... and then I got to jump on this cool trampoline, I did back flips, front flips...and stuff...

Then on Saturday morning my sister and her husband invited us out on their boat.

Then we decided to try and wake board.  Wade has only been on one once and he got up on his first try. Woot woot...

  

Then I tried it with much encouragement, I haven't wake boarded in like six years... and I'm a mom now...and I'm 26!!!  I don't work like I used to.  Anyway I got up after my second try and I really can't believe I'm putting up a picture of my white nasty legs on this blog but I just have to remind myself that like only two people read it, so I think I'm fine with that... I think...

Well I'm exhausted from writing this blog...I think I'm going to go to bed and rest my weary little fingers.

Wade's Trip to Thailand

As you may know, Wade works for Operation Smile, (operationsmile.org), which offers free reconstructive surgery to children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and palate.  They sent him on a medical mission a couple of weeks ago and he just returned last Saturday... Thank goodness it was in one piece.  Thailand has had a lot of rioting in the streets which has caused a lot of deaths to the Thai people.  To stop the rioting the government put a curfew on the country that NO ONE could be out in the streets after 11:00 pm or they could be jailed for up to two years and they get a huge fine.  So when Wade drove through the streets of Bangkok (which has a population of 15 million people) it was completely empty, "like a ghost town".  He said it was such a weird creepy feeling.  Luckily he had papers that let him travel through the town.  This picture is of one of the buildings the rioters set on fire, and what the streets looked like after the riots.

  

Before going to the mission site, Wade got to sightsee in Bangkok. He went to the Grand Palace, which is where the king of Thailand traditionally lives (although the current king does not live there).  Since the country is nearly 95% Buddhist, a lot of the buildings at the Grand Palace are Buddhist temples. 

Here, they are restoring some of the art work by hand.  Everything was very detailed and intricate.

At the mission site in Chonburi, over 100 people showed up to be screened by the medical doctors.  In the picture below, you can see a young boy in a wheelchair with a towel wrapped around his face.  That's how many of them live their lives--with covered faces because they are ashamed of how they look.  Here are a few pics from the mission site, including a child after receiving surgery.

Wade saw some other cool stuff while in Thailand, including:

Yummy local cuisine,

(Squid, Octopus, and other gross stuff)

A local orphanage with over 70 kids,

But only one small bedroom, a small kitchen, and one bathroom!

Not really sure what this is, but there is a resemblance.  ha ha ha

And last but not least Wade came home and told me more about the monkey's there and how cute they were more than he told me about the mission itself.  I think I know what to get him for Fathers Day :)
